Does vegan nutrition lead to a better attitude towards life and well-being? Many people strive for more energy to drive projects forward, to be more efficient at work and, of course, to feel fit and well. Nutrition, of course, plays a crucial role in this. But can a purely plant-based diet help to improve lifestyle and mental and physical health?
Personally, I definitely feel better - but the most important thing is to follow a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle. For me, the switch has led to a greater sense of well-being, more freshness and energy. But not only that: above all, it was a great, positive feeling to live one's own values and stand up for animals and the environment.
In this article I would like to introduce you to the factors that can influence the well-being of a plant-based diet. In advance, you will find here a brief Overview about the contribution:
More energy through easier digestion of plant foods
The intestine as the basis for health or disease has a great influence on the attitude to life. Fortunately, vegan foods are comparatively easier and faster to digest than animal products. Digestion requires a lot of energy, which is why it is so important to think about what you eat. If you consume foods that are particularly fresh and easy to digest, you save energy when digesting them. This makes you feel less sluggish after the meal and does not suffer from postprandial fatigue, the so-called feeding coma.
"In the gut lies the origin of health or disease."Chinese proverb
The released energy definitely made me feel fitter and more active quickly - in short, I felt a better sense of life thanks to the vegan, easily digestible food.
Tip: Another way to optimize your digestion is by the way intermittent fasting. Through the extended fasting phase you relieve your gastrointestinal tract and give it a valuable regeneration break.
Vegan diet increases fiber intake

Because these provide as a rule for a shorter transit time of food in the intestine, increase your intestinal health and reduce the risk of developing colorectal cancer.
Dietary fiber occur exclusively in plant foods - for example in lentils, beans, chickpeas and other legumes. Consequently, vegans get much more dietary fiber than mixed dieters and vegetarians, which was also shown in a study by Waldmann et al. has been confirmed. That's why I also prefer a Diet without substitute products.
More joy through a more conscious diet
The vegan diet has led to a good feeling for me, because I finally live according to my personal values. By this I mean that I always had a bad feeling because of the fact that animals had to die for my food. However, I was not fully aware of this at the time. By being aware of the fact that my way of eating leads to Animal suffering and Environmental damage leads, however, I have a felt great motivation to change my behavior. Even if the feeling was negative at first, something positive emerged from this negative feeling. Simply because I had to overcome the inner contradiction, this cognitive dissonance between "love animals but eat them", could put down.
In the meantime, a large part of my Waste biodegradable, fewer resources are needed for my diet, I eat a diet seasonal and regional and thereby also feel a strengthening of my Nature connection. So I experience a completely new attitude to life through the vegan diet and perceive the seasons much more consciously. For example, in the summer I am much more happy about strawberries than I used to be, because I didn't eat strawberries for months before.
Thought Excursion: Through the vegan diet and my increased awareness of nutrition, the concept of food has become really clear to me for the first time: Means of life. When I look around in the supermarket, however, there are many products in which there is little energy for life and which do not deserve the term food.
