Cookies and messages about access numbers

We use "session cookies" from VG Wort, Munich, to measure access to texts in order to record the probability of copying. Session cookies are small units of information that a provider stores in the working memory of the visitor's computer. A randomly generated unique identification number, a so-called session ID, is stored in a session cookie. A cookie also contains information about its origin and the storage period. Session cookies cannot store any other data.

These measurements are carried out by Kantar Deutschland GmbH using the Scalable Central Measurement Method (SZM). They help to determine the likelihood of individual texts being copied in order to compensate authors and publishers for their legal claims. We do not collect any personal data via cookies.

Many of our pages are equipped with JavaScript calls, which we use to report access to the collecting society VG Wort. This enables our authors to participate in the distributions of VG Wort, which ensure the statutory remuneration for the use of copyrighted works in accordance with Section 53 UrhG.

It is also possible to use our website without cookies. Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser so that it notifies you as soon as cookies are sent.

Privacy policy for the use of the Scalable Central Measurement System

Our website and our mobile website use the "Scalable Central Measurement Method" (SZM) of Kantar Deutschland GmbH to determine statistical parameters for determining the copy probability of texts.

Anonymous measurement values are collected. To recognize computer systems, the access number measurement alternatively uses a session cookie or a signature that is created from various automatically transmitted information from your browser. IP addresses are only processed in anonymized form.

The procedure was developed with due regard to data protection. The sole aim of the procedure is to determine the copying probability of individual texts.

At no time are individual users identified. Your identity is always protected. You will not receive any advertising via the system.

Legal basis

The use of the Scalable Central Measurement Procedure and the session cookies of VG WORT is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO. The website operator has a legitimate interest in receiving royalties from VG WORT.

4. analysis tools and advertising

Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

The storage of Google Analytics cookies is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analyzing user behavior in order to optimize both its website and its advertising.

IP anonymization

We have activated the IP anonymization function on this website. Order data processing

We have concluded a contract with Google for commissioned data processing and fully implement the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Demographic characteristics in Google Analytics

This website uses the "demographic characteristics" function of Google Analytics. This allows reports to be created that contain statements about the age, gender and interests of site visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising from Google and from visitor data from third-party providers. This data cannot be assigned to a specific person. You can deactivate this function at any time via the ad settings in your Google account or generally prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as described in the section "Objection to data collection".

Facebook Pixel

Our website uses the visitor action pixel from Facebook, Facebook Inc, 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook") to measure conversions.

The data entered in the newsletter registration form is processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). MailChimp is certified in accordance with the "EU-US Privacy Shield". The "Privacy Shield" is an agreement between the European Union (EU) and the USA that is intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards in the USA.

With the help of MailChimp, we can analyze our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with MailChimp, a file contained in the email (known as a web beacon) connects to MailChimp's servers in the USA. This makes it possible to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked on. Technical information is also collected (e.g. time of access, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.

YouTube

Our website uses plugins of the website YouTube. The operator of the pages is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.

We use YouTube in extended data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode means that YouTube does not store any information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. However, the transfer of data to YouTube partners is not necessarily excluded by the extended data protection mode. For example, YouTube establishes a connection to the Google DoubleClick network regardless of whether you watch a video.

As soon as you start a YouTube video on our website, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. This tells the YouTube server which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

Furthermore, YouTube can store various cookies on your end device after starting a video. With the help of these cookies, YouTube can obtain information about visitors to our website. This information is used, among other things, to record video statistics, improve user-friendliness and prevent fraud attempts. The cookies remain on your device until you delete them.

After the start of a YouTube video, further data processing operations may be triggered over which we have no influence.

YouTube is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offers. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO.

Vimeo also obtains your IP address. This also applies if you are not logged in to Vimeo or do not have a Vimeo account. The information collected by Vimeo is transmitted to the Vimeo server in the USA.

If you are logged into your Vimeo account, you enable Vimeo to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your Vimeo account.

The use of Google Web Fonts is in the interest of a uniform and appealing presentation of my online offers, in particular the recognizability in the context of my corporate identity. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

Use of Google Fonts is unauthenticated. No cookies are sent by website visitors to the Google Fonts API. Requests to the Google Fonts API are made to resource-specific domains, such as fonts.googleapis.com or fonts.gstatic.com, so that your requests for fonts are separate from and do not contain any credentials you send to google.com while using other Google services that are authenticated, such as Gmail.

This means:

The use of Google Fonts is not monitored. No cookies are sent to the Google Fonts API by website visitors. Requests to the Google Fonts API are made to resource-specific domains such as fonts.googleapis.com or fonts.gstatic.com . 7. online marketing and partner programs

Amazon Affiliate Program

The operators of the pages participate in the Amazon EU partner program. On our pages, Amazon integrates advertisements and links to the Amazon.de site, from which we can earn money by reimbursing advertising costs. Amazon uses cookies to track the origin of orders. This allows Amazon to recognize that you have clicked on the partner link on our website.

The storage of "Amazon cookies" takes place on the basis of Art. 6 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in this, as the amount of its affiliate remuneration can only be determined through the cookies.

For more information about Amazon's use of data, please refer to Amazon's privacy policy: https://www.amazon.de/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=footer_privacy?ie=UTF8&nodeId=3312401.

AWIN Partner Program

We use components of the company AWIN on our website on the basis of your express consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. AWIN is a German affiliate network and serves as an interface between merchants (merchants) and sales partners (affiliates).

Affiliate marketing is an Internet-supported form of sales that enables commercial operators of websites, known as merchants or advertisers, to display advertising, which is usually remunerated via click or sale commissions, on third-party websites, i.e. with sales partners, also known as affiliates or publishers. The merchant provides an advertising medium via the affiliate network, i.e. an advertising banner or other suitable means of Internet advertising, which is subsequently integrated by an affiliate on their own website or advertised via other channels, such as keyword advertising or e-mail marketing.

The operating company of AWIN is AWIN AG, Eichhornstraße 3, 10785 Berlin, Germany.

AWIN places a cookie on the data subject's IT system. What cookies are has already been explained above. AWIN's tracking cookie does not store any personal data. Only the identification number of the affiliate, i.e. the partner referring the potential customer, as well as the order number of the visitor to a website and the advertising material clicked on are stored. The purpose of storing this data is to process commission payments between a merchant and the affiliate, which are processed via the affiliate network, i.e. AWIN.

The data subject may, as stated above, prevent the setting of cookies through our website at any time by means of a corresponding adjustment of the web browser used and thus permanently deny the setting of cookies. Such a setting of the Internet browser used would also prevent AWIN from placing a cookie on the data subject's IT system. In addition, cookies already set by AWIN can be deleted at any time via an internet browser or other software programs.

The applicable data protection provisions of AWIN can be viewed at https://www.awin.com/de/rechtliches/privacy-policy can be retrieved.
