Berlin. The Swedish furnishing group IKEA offers from this month the buyback of old, well-preserved furniture. With this test phase, the group responds to the development of our society towards a more sustainable consumption , completely in the sense of the Zero Waste Lifestyle.
Since September, the furniture giant has been testing the buy-back of old furniture in pilot stores in Lichtenberg (Berlin), Karst, Siegen, Hanover and Würzburg. If the concept is accepted, IKEA plans to buy back used furniture throughout Germany in the future. On the IKEA online portal, interested customers can first find out when exactly a piece of used furniture will be accepted. An automatic tool creates an offer price according to the information the customer submits.
It remains to be seen how IKEA's pilot project for taking back old furniture will be received. But the concept is definitely in line with the times.
