Munich. After careful consideration, the Hanser publishing house has now decided to do without shrink-wrap for books in future. Only 10% to 20% of books will be delivered to bookshops wrapped in plastic. These books will then be particularly expensive copies. The changes are set to take place from fall 2019, but the spokesperson from Hanser Verlag mentioned that there are not only advantages to not using plastic, but also a risk. This is because the books are less protected than with the plastic packaging and can be broken or soiled more quickly.
